UNDERSTANDING THE LAW OF KARMA

Everything happens to me. Why me? What did I do to deserve this?. I'm full of problems and I see no way out... We all think we know the problems we have. We all know in the success or failure, what our weaknesses and strengths are. There are obvious situations: Lack of money, lack of a stable emotional life and future projection. So what is the purpose of life? Is the meaning of life be full of problems? How important is this world full of hunger and poverty wars? Why live in the agony of the constant need? What is the purpose lies and betrayals of corrupt political systems and economics avid sweat of others? Why do I want to have each day? What is the life I'm living, the life I want and the life others want me to live? Why do certain things tend to get get out well and others badly? How can Providence be so unfair? Why that  nice that person was born blind? Why is God so cruel?.

The answer to these and many other similar questions can be found in the Vedic literature of ancient India. In it we find the concept of Karma, a law of nature roughly comparable to the physical law, which states that for every action there is a reaction. The law of Karma is based on the principle of Reincarnation: The soul dwells constantly new entities and transmigration from one body to another after death. The law of Karma determines the next body that the soul will live after death.

This question of Karma has been of great concern by the philosophers of both East and West. A western theory says that when we are born, our lives are like a blank sheet of paper. From there, each life develops as a result of their environment and the forces acting on it, relatives, friends, society, dominant culture, etc. Buddhism, however, teaches that life is eternal and that we have lived countless lives so far. This implies that we are not born as blank pages, but as countless pages with impressions made before. According to Buddhism, life is in the cosmos forever, sometimes it manifests and other latent. Such as when we sleep and then wake up. Between sleep and waking, our thoughts are in a subconscious state. Similarly, when we die, our life is in a dormant state. And so life continues eternally one, alternating states of life and death. Death is as much a part of life, as sleep is part of the process of living.

On this basis, the Karma is the accumulation of the effects of good and bad causes we do through our previous lives, the positive and negative actions we did in this life, and that at this very moment we are doing. The operation of the causes and effects may not be too obvious. Life often seems unfair. How is it that a man is unscrupulous and selfish rich? Why does this nice woman from the other street have cancer? Why people are born in such different circumstances? Surely a child did not have the opportunity to cause to be born in poverty and hunger. We can only explain these circumstances, if we understand that life is eternal and that our birth was determined for the reasons made in previous lives. Everything we do in life affects the positive or negative balance of our Karma. For example, if we were born poor but devote our lives to give to others whatever we can give them, we are making causes to change the negative Karma of being poor. Moreover, if we devote life to envy, or hate, or steal from others, we are causes to increase the negative Karma. Because every thought, word and deed is a cause that creates an effect. At a simple level, if we go to work, pay us, if we exercise, we will be strong. Therefore, the target is not arbitrary, nor imposed by a supernatural force, but we believe in every moment.

The doctrine of Karma has a great implication: we can not blame anyone else for our suffering. Of course this does not mean that others do not have anything to do with it, they will have the reward of their own actions. The important thing is that our suffering comes from within, not outside. Although this seems strict, it is actually extremely liberating. After all, we can not change other people. Rather, the only way to change other people's changing the way we relate to them, changing us ourselves first. Every living individual is responsible for his Karma. When we say or think: "What have I done to deserve this? In a subconscious way we recognize it, but we do not know the exact mechanism by which the Law of Karma acts

Human beings can evolve spiritually to the point of being permanently free from the Law of Karma. This happens when one acquires a spiritual body. The reactions of Karma can be eliminated through processes for self-realization. The gurus of some doctrines believe and assure that those beings  can remember their past lives made unequivocally, something that ordinary people can never do. The memories, however, remain hidden and stored within each being. Some Buddhist schools maintain that is through meditation that you can reach the superconscious state, better known as Nirvana, which represents the end of existence conditioned by Karma.

But until we decide on these options, just know that nothing that happens in life, absolutely nothing happens for nothing. Everything has a root cause, everything has a deeper meaning, so deep that it transcends the normal rational understanding, to the superficial understanding of the vast majority of humans are only able to discern the effects of these causes produce. The truth is that all relationships have been established by one or other reason, just have a specific goal: the evolution of man. And as a friend of mine said: "We have to evolve together with our more and our less, overcoming and correcting things, and that above all is Love".
